The Crew

3 09 2012

Previously, I posted a drawing of the three Armen strutting their stuff.   Naturally, I decided that a follow-up drawing of the main cast, minus Aislin.  So, from top center and clockwise: Ichabod Maluk, Mozo al Kiakken, Taz Catgut, and Ammo Sierkson (with mook).

I worked from several photo references and overall am pretty happy with the poses.   The composition got a little cramped, but not too badly.   I am particularly proud of Ichabod, whose pose I based on a boxer.  It’s so cool to finally draw Ichabod and the others in color!   Mozo continues to be a challenge, but I think this one was a bit better.

Parts of the Storm

27 08 2012

Here is an artwork–colored no less–of some characters from my story, “The Armen”.    These characters are Armensk, a nation of people, who are able to manipulate either fire, wind, or water.     Counterclockwise:  Jens Seagard, Ida Osten, and Aislin Krassifitch.

I’m extremely happy with the colors and the stances of the characters.   Jens’ was extremely difficult to draw (overall he was probably the hardest to do in terms of pose and coloring), but overall, I’m happy.   Enjoy!

Armen art: Aislin vs. Jens

20 08 2012

Here is a sketch of Aislin and Jens–another character who has yet to make an appearance–sparring.   I think I made some proportional mistakes, but I like Jens’ expression.

Marker test run

11 07 2012

So, I recently got some markers for my birthday, so I decided to try them out…by drawing myself as a Fire-bender!   I just watched Legend of Korra and Avatar The Last Airbender and thought they were awesome.

The drawing took some time to complete, if only because I kept throwing side-kicks in the mirror so I’d have a reference! It’s perhaps not as dramatic as it could have been, but I’m happy with the colors and the overall movement of the piece.  Enjoy!
